2015/02 Organ Pipe National Monument
Since Lindsey had Monday off for President's Day, we decided to leave on Thursday afternoon to give ourselves a very long weekend in Organ Pipe National Monument. We made a quick stop at the Indian Canyons in Palm Springs on our way out before an overnight in Blythe, CA. We departed early the next morning for Organ Pipe, and arrived just before lunch. Luckily, they still had an available spot in the Alamo Primitive Campground, and so we stayed there for the next three nights.
Lindsey was a bit limited due to the staph infection in her big toe, so we didn't do as much hiking as we would have liked, but we still got a pretty good feel for the park. We also spent a day in the sister park of El Pinacate y Gran Desierto de Altar in Sonora, Mexico. It turned out to be a fairly long drive, but the volcanic scenery was amazing.
