2015/04 Mojave National Preserve
Although we couldn't take any time off from work, we decided to head out to Mojave National Preserve for a longish weekend (early afternoon departure on Friday and late afternoon return on Sunday). We ended up camping at a location just to the west of the opening to Carruther's Canyon at the base of the New York Mountains, in an incredible spot between some massive boulders. The weather was perfect, with comfortable temperatures and not a cloud in the sky for the entire weekend. It was also prime time for most of the cacti to bloom. Sadly, Jack's knee was in bad shape from bending it in a strange way while working in the garage, so we were limited to relatively short hikes. Still, it was a fantastic weekend!
