2013/04 Borneo

We decided to visit Borneo for two weeks, with the primary goal of seeing Orangutans in the wild. We spent our first four days our in Bako National Park, which had great hiking and fantastic visits from probiscus monkeys. Our next stop was Mt. Santubong NP, where we made an exciting climb to the top of the mountain with the same name. From there, we moved on to six days in the Batang Ai area to search for Orangutans. Although it looked bleak for a while, we were finally able to see an Orangutan mother and baby on the morning of the fifth day, along with a juvenile male later that afternoon (after we'd already dropped off our cameras to go for a swim!) To finish our trip, we then spent a night in the enormous guest house in Kubah NP.
